When recruiting member class ‘16, top grades on campus was a staple in conversation with potential new members.
And those new members, now standing as seniors, are one semester away from graduating while keeping the fraterneity top in grades every semester of their time in chapter.
Between Member Class ‘17 and ‘18 both setting class GPA records at the university – and a recent 3.37 GPA for Fall 2019 – it’s clear the academic support in Washington Alpha is utilized.
“We recruit academically driven members in the first place,” former VP of Scholarship Andrew Poulton said. “A lot of guidance from older members assists the underclassmen in their transition to a college workload.”
The Balanced Man Program has benefited our chapter membership; however, day-to-day support within the brotherhood – academic or not – plays an equal role in Washington Alpha’s successes.
From an Academic Success Plan to GPA competitions, several tricks have been tried by the scholarship team to promote academic wellness. However, under Poulton’s term as Vice President of Scholarship, it seems one-on-one help with brothers in the study room does the trick.
