Every year on Men’s Hoops senior night, the anonymous student under the mask of Butch T. Cougar – Washington State University’s beloved mascot – reveals himself. SigEp at Washington State has had several within the brotherhood hold the role, and this past year is no different.
For three years in a row, Butch has belonged to WA Alpha.
Then-senior James Nelson lead the role in during the 2017-2018 school year. His successor for 2018-2019 campaign was Gavin Barnes. And for the 2019-2020 slate, look not further than Dawson Dormaier of Member Class ’16.
Simply put, it has become somewhat of a tradition for chapter membership to hold the role.
“I got to pour my heart and soul into something strange and find out I’m very passionate about it,” Dawson said in a social media post. “What seemed like a silly thing gave me some of the best memories, friends, and experiences I’ll take with me for the rest of my life.”
