On March 5th, two of our members announced their candidacy for ASWSU President and Vice President. Sophomore Brian Patrick will be running for President and current senior Alexander Pan will be running for Vice President.
“I am running for President to continue improving the collegiate experience at Washington State University,” said Brian Patrick. “The Previous ASWSU board laid a strong foundation for improving the mental health and safety of our campus, and I want to continue where they left off and ensure that every student at WSU can make the most out of their college experience.”
One of the focal points that these candidates have is ensuring that the proper resources are in place in order for campus safety and mental health to improve.
Alexander Pan has also helped plan and fundraise for the flashing crosswalk beacon on Colorado Street and mental health awareness through the promotional event, 2 Weeks of Pullman.
In addition to focusing on mental health and safety, the pair hopes to increase the transparency and level of student involvement in the decisions of ASWSU and the University.
“We want to run to have more student input in ASWSU and the University’s decisions,” said Alexander Pan. “In my journey, I will put students first and ensure their voices are heard.”
The pair also has a large amount of campus involvement between them. Presidential candidate and Business Management Major Brian Patrick is currently President of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) club and Vice President of Recruitment for SigEp.
Alexander Pan also has lots of campus involvement throughout his years as a Coug. While triple majoring in Finance, Accounting, and Economics, he has represented the WSU student body for two terms as the ASWSU Director of Community Affairs, been an ambassador for the Carson College of Business, and served as Vice President of SigEp Learning Community.
Brian and Alexander hope to bring this dedication and work ethic to ASWSU as President and Vice President. If elected, they will work day in and day out to ensure that Cougs get the most out of their college experience every day.
